Clarice Cliff early CROCUS pattern ashtray.
Circa 1929. Art Deco original.
Very nicely hand-painted and bright in this ever-popular design. This is an early example of the pattern, with the huge flowers and the green hand-painted crocus name on the back.
No serious damage or restoration, in good condition. Some fine line crazing to the back and a small factory grind to one edge, neither of which detract from it’s appeal, but only fair to mention.
Stamped Bizarre by Clarice Cliff to the base and has a hand-painted CROCUS pattern name in green paint. Also has an impressed date mark for 1929.
Width of ashtray is 12cm.
