This is a very stunning Clarice Cliff AUTUMN (green) coronet shape jug.
Art Deco original, circa 1931.
Hand painted very thickly with huge, pendulous trees which wrap right around the body of the jug. Autumn (Green) is a very rare variant of the Autumn pattern and one which is known from just a handful of examples. This piece is a real stunner.
The jug is in very good condition and has no serious damage or restoration. The only minor blemish I will mention is a small area of thick paint (see photos) which may be a bit of overpainting, but I am not 100% sure. It is not particularly noticeable and I’ve run the black light over the whole jug and it didn’t show anything underneath the paint, so I suspect it may have been a simple area of paint loss, which has been touched-up at some point. This doesn’t detract from the appeal of this jug, but only fair to mention.

The jug is 17.5cm high.
