Clarice Cliff DOUBLE DIAMOND (variant) ashtray.
Circa 1930. Art Deco original.
Thickly hand-painted and bright in orange, yellow, black and green with a central Diamonds design to the well of the ashtray.
No serious damage or restoration, but does have a small firing fault underneath, which extends to a small, tight, hairline on the underside of the ashtray rim (see photos). This doesn’t detract from the appeal of this piece and cannot be seen from the front, but is reflected in the price.
Stamped Bizarre by Clarice Cliff to the base. Also has an impressed date mark for January 1930.
Width of ashtray is 12.5cm.
