Clarice Cliff INSPIRATION PERSIAN (variant) George shape jug. Shape number 564.
Art Deco original, circa 1936.
This is a very interesting piece of some academic note. The Persian pattern is normally found on much earlier pieces from the late 1920s/early 1930s.
This dates to around 1936 and is somewhat of a rarity. It may have been produced as an experiment, a special order or for a trade show. I don’t think we will ever know! Not to be missed!
In good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. A very tiny paint frit to the top rim.
Stamped with the script Clarice Cliff mark to the base plus an impressed shape number and name.
The jug is 16.5cm high.
