Clarice Cliff large size BROTH (orange) pattern plate, 10 inches (25cm).
Circa 1929. Art Deco original.
This is a very striking and nicely decorated plate which has the full BROTH (orange) pattern on display. It is the large size, which is great to have as a centerpiece for any Clarice Cliff collection. The pattern is superb, very eye-catching!
No serious damage or restoration, very clean and attractive. There is a small underglaze ‘dimple’ to the rim of the plate. This is not damage and would have been there when the plate left the factory, but only fair to mention. Minor crazing.
Stamped FANTASQUE by Clarice Cliff in the large, early, script version of the back stamp to the rear of the plate. There is also an impressed date stamp for 1925 (although this plate would have been decorated later, in about 1929).
