Clarice Cliff. MELON (green) pattern. A Leda shape plate.
Art Deco original, circa 1930.
Green Melon is known from only a handful of examples and is a rare colour variant of the ever-popular Melon pattern. Superbly decorated and bright and has good banding.
In good condition with no chips or cracks. Some minor professional paint refreshing to the rim of the plate in a couple of places, which don’t in any way detract from the beauty of this piece, but only fair to mention.
Has the script Fantasque by Clarice Cliff mark to the back and an impressed date stamp for 1930. There is also a Lawleys retailer mark in gold.
The plate is 23cm.
