Clarice Cliff NUAGE (green) ashtray.
Circa 1932. Art Deco original.
Thickly hand-painted and stippled in bright green and yellow with a blue flower design to the well of the ashtray.
No damage or restoration. A couple of very minor paint frits to the black edge of the ashtray, which don’t detract in any way from the appeal of this piece.
Stamped NUAGE Bizarre by Clarice Cliff to the base. Also has an impressed date mark (indistinct) and a gold Lawleys backstamp.
Width of ashtray is 12.5cm.
