Clarice Cliff ORIGINAL BIZARRE (OB) octagonal sandwich plate, small size.
Art Deco original. Circa 1928.
This attractive early piece is thickly hand-painted and bright with a bold, geometric double-star design in orange, blue and brown, outlined in green and surrounded by a thick orange band around the edge of the plate.
In overall good condition with no damage, chips or stains; some age-related crazing to the plate (see pictures). A couple of minor factory grinds to the back of the plate.
Stamped Bizarre by Clarice Cliff to the base in the huge, early script back-stamp. Also has an impressed date mark for 1928 (indistinct).
Width of plate is 14cm.
