Clarice Cliff WOODLAND pattern ashtray.
Circa 1930. Art Deco original.
Thickly hand-painted and bright in blue, yellow, green, black, lilac and orange with a flowers and lollipop-trees design to the well of the ashtray.
No serious damage or restoration, but does have some areas of paint loss to the blue bush (can be seen in the photos) and a few minor paint frits to the edge of the ashtray. It also has a small nick to the edge of the ashtray. These issues don’t detract from the appeal of this piece, and could easily be rectified by a competent restorer. These flaws are reflected in the price.
Stamped Bizarre by Clarice Cliff to the base. Also has an impressed date mark for July 1930 and a painted pattern number of 8869.
Width of ashtray is 12.5cm.
