Clarice Cliff ZAP (Cafe Au Lait) pattern stepped fern pot, shape 416.
Art Deco original, circa 1930.
This is a very rare pattern, only known from a handful of examples. The pot is beautifully hand-painted right around the body and has the cafe-au-lait stippling applied expertly over the top of the pattern.
In good condition with no chips or cracks. It does have two professionally restored areas to the top rim, which have been done very well indeed and are virtually invisible. They would not need to be re-done.
The pot is 8.5cm high and 9cm across the top. It carries the CAFE-AU-LAIT Bizarre by Clarice Cliff back-stamp to the base.
