This is a very nice Gray’s Tea-for-one set, comprising a tea pot, milk, sugar, plate and a cup and saucer. Circa 1934/5.
The design is of a line in rich blue, and a floral pattern of a rather modernist kind, with a little green, yellow and grey, and a few shaded lines round the blue line. The whole effect is very neat.
This may be a Susie Cooper design, but we cannot be certain as she had left Gray’s by this time. It does, however, have many similarities to her work.
The pattern number is A2006, which can bee seen on some of the pieces in this set.
The set is in good condition with no chips or restoration. For complete accuracy, there is a small, tight, hairline on the teapot just near the top of the spout (see photos).
All pieces carry the HAND-PAINTED, Gray’s Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, England backstamp.
The teapot is 10cm high and the plate is 13cm diameter.
