Joan Shorter (Clarice Cliff’s Niece) hand painted 1930s sandwich tray with original handle.
This will have been produced in Clarice’s factory (AJ Wilkinson), as Joan Shorter was her husband’s daughter from a previous marriage.
It is quite a rare piece, which depicts a clown-like farmer leading his reluctant cow. Very well decorated and attractive.
No damage or restoration. The handle can be detached if required.
Back stamped Joan Shorter Kiddies Ware, AJ Wilkinson, England.
The tray is 29.5cm long and 14.5cm wide.
