Clarice Cliff RED BROTH pattern conical cup & saucer.
Art Deco original, circa 1929.
This is a fairly rare pattern variant, only known from a few examples. The Broth pattern is one of Clarice’s best and most desirable designs and this is an early version of the pattern on a conical cup and saucer.
Superbly decorated in strong colours, right around the cup with stunning banding to the saucer. The cup and saucer are in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Both the cup and saucer carry an old auction sticker from a Bonhams 2006 auction.
The cup and saucer both carry the script Fantasque by Clarice Cliff back-stamp to their bases (under the auction sticker).
The cup is approximately 6cm high and the saucer is 14cm diameter.
